Foundation of marine academy laid in Pabna

Planning Minister Air Vice-Marshal (retd) AK Khandaker yesterday laid the foundation stone of a marine academy in Nagarbari port of Bera upazila in Pabna. With cost of Tk 123 core, the academy would be constructed to meet the growing demands of marine engineers and officers, he told the function. The government has taken initiatives to establish four new marine academies in the country, he said adding that funds have also been allocated for the projects. With Shipping Secretary Sayed Monjurul Islam in the chair, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, State Minister for Home Samsul Haque Tuku, Vice Admiral of Navy Jahir Uddin Mahamud, Commandant of Bangladesh Marine Academy Sajid Hussain, also spoke.
