Case Against Fakhrul
Hearing on charge framing deferred
A Dhaka court yesterday for the fourth time deferred until January 1 the hearing on charge framing against BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 28 others in a blast case.
Shahbagh police filed the case against them for aiding and abetting the bombings inside the secretariat during the April 29 hartal.
Judge Mohammad Zahirul Haque of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order after counsels for nine accused including BNP lawmaker MK Anwar submitted separate petitions seeking adjournment of the hearing.
They submitted the adjournment petitions saying that eight lawmakers of BNP-led 18-party could not appear before the court as the parliament session is going on.
Additional Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Shah Alam Talukder, however, opposed the petitions saying that the lawmakers of the 18-party have been boycotting the ongoing JS session.
After hearing the both sides, the court granted the time petitions.
Twenty out of the total accused including Mirza Fakhrul were present in the courtroom.
