Road crashes kill 2
Two people were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Pabna and Chittagong yesterday.
Our Pabna correspondent reports, a boy was killed instantly and another injured as a speeding truck hit them on Dhaka-Kushtia highway in Sahapur area of Ishwardi upazila in the district yesterday noon.
The deceased was Md Jony Sardar, 8, son of Kolom Sardar of village Diar Shahpur in the upazila.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Akbar Hossain said the truck hit Jony on the highway in the area while he and his cousin Md Rinku were returning home at about 11:30am, killing Jony on the spot and injuring another.
Injured Rinku was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The police seized the truck while its driver fled.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, an unidentified person died as an unknown vehicle ran the person over on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong early yesterday.
Police said the accident occurred at around 2:30am while the person was crossing Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Jorarganj Highway Police Outpost.
The identity of the person could not be ascertained due to the badly mangled body.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
