Fake Visas
20 held at Shahjalal airport
Immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport arrested 20 youths while they were allegedly trying to go to Thailand and Malaysia with fake visas yesterday morning.
According to immigration authorities, of them five youths were trying to go to Thailand with fake visas around 5:00am by a flight of Thai Airways.
They were Nurul Alam, Jahangir Alam, Billal Hossain, Osman Gani and Mamun Hossain.
Besides, 15 others were arrested when they were on the way to Malaysia via Laos by a flight of Bangladesh Biman, said the immigration sources.
They were Selim Reza, Ashiqul Islam, Ali Ahmed, Saddam Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Nur Mohammad, Arafat Ali, Iqramul Hossain, Abdus Salam, Mafizur Rahman, Shah Alam, Abdul Jalil, Selim Hossain, Mohobbat Ali and Taiyob Ali.
According to sources all the 20 youths had been trying to go abroad with the help of brokers. They were ultimately cheated by the brokers despite they paid Tk 2 to 3 lakh to them.
Immigration officials said all the detainees were sent to the office of the Special Branch of police to interrogate them and identify the brokers.
