Road crashes kill three in three districts

Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Madaripur and Sirajganj yesterday. A correspondent from Gopalganj reports, an old man was killed as a bus hit a battery-run three-wheeler on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Mandartala area of Gopalganj district yesterday morning. The deceased was Mozam Mollah, 68, of Tungipara upazila. Police said the Dhaka-bound bus from Khulna rammed the three-wheeler from behind, leaving the three-wheeler passenger Mozam dead. He was taken to a local hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Our Madaripur correspondent reports, an old man was killed as speeding motorcycle hit him in DC Bridge area of Madaripur town yesterday afternoon. The victim was identified as Syed Samsuddin, 65. Police said the motorbike hit Samsuddin while he was crossing the road in the area. Locals took him to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Protesting the accident, locals blocked Madaripur-Shariatpur road for an hour. Our Sirajganj correspondent reports, a motorcyclist was killed instantly as a bus crashed into the motorbike on Sirajganj-Enayetpur road in Saidabad area yesterday afternoon. The deceased was identifies as Yusuf Ali, 30, son of Panchashona UP Member Aziz Mondal. Agitating people blocked the road and damaged the bus.
