European team starts free plastic surgery
A three-nation European humanitarian medical mission started free plastic surgery at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) yesterday.
The 2-week services are being given to the poor people suffering from deformations of faces, burn-injuries, mutilations of hands, and birth-defects.
The nine-member team consisting of surgeons from Germany, Holland and Hungary arrived in Dhaka on November 10 under the aegis of "For-Bangladesh Association", a German-based voluntary organisation.
Professor Shafiqul Islam and Assistant Professor Anwarul Islam of the university and President of "For Bangladesh Association" Dr Krishna Priya Das spoke at the inaugural session.
