'Thief' lynched in Noakhali
An alleged thief was beaten to death by a mob at Rajapur village in Companigaj upazila of Noakhali early yesterday.
The victim was identified as Saiful Islam, 30, son of Duda Mia of Bashurhat municipality in the district.
Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir said Saiful entered the house of one Md Abdul Hai.
When he tried to get out of the house after stealing some valuables, the family members woke up from sleep and caught him.
Hearing scream, locals rushed to the spot and started beating Saiful, killing him instantly.
