Seminar on 'Arab Spring' held at Asian University for Women

A seminar on "Arab Spring", one of the most momentous events in the contemporary world after the end of the Cold War, was held on the Asian University for Women (AUW) campus in Chittagong yesterday. Alliance Française de Chittagong and AUW jointly organised the seminar styled “Cross Perspectivesâ€. Tunisian-born French-language scholar, novelist and cultural critic Abdelwahab Meddeb addressed the event as the keynote speaker on the theme “Muslim Secularism versus Islamism in the context of the Arab Springâ€. Director of Alliance Française de Chittagong Dr Samuel Berthet, and Assistant Professor of Sociology of AUW Dr Sara Amin, among others, were present on the occasion.
