RU BCL beats up Shibir man
Activists of pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University (RU) unit yesterday beat up an activist of pro-Jamaat Islami Chhatra Shibir after dragging him out from his classroom on the university campus.
The BCL men dragged Masud Sheikh, a fourth year student of the management department, out from his classroom, and beat him with iron rods and hockey sticks in front of Rabindra Bhaban and handed him over to police, campus sources said.
RU BCL President Ahmed Ali claimed that Masud was involved in the attack on former BCL unit vice president Tawhid Al Akheruzzaman Takim on Wednesday night.
Despite several attempts over cellphone, Shibir RU President Ashraful Alam Emon and General Secretary Saifuddin Yeahea could not be contacted for comments.
Motihar police said they will take steps against Masud after primary interrogation.
