Seven Shibir men held in Ctg
Police yesterday detained seven activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir with iron rods and sticks near Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in the port city when they gathered for “creating anarchyâ€.
They are Abdullah-al-Mamun alias Faisal, Jasim Uddin Manik, Nurul Huda, Sajjad Hossain, Shariful Islam Shahed, Mijanur Rahman and Jainal Abedin.
Some of the detainees are the students of Omargani MES College while the others are of International Islamic University Chittagong, police said.
On information, police nabbed the seven when some 50 people assembled in front of the CMCH cafeteria around 2:15pm, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahirul Islam, in-charge of CMCH police outpost.
During primary interrogation, the detainees confessed that they were Shibir activists and were waiting there for further instruction from their leaders for creating anarchy in the area, said Assistant SI Dipak Biswas of Panchlaish Police Station.
