Release of Ilias Ali demanded
Thousands of BNP leaders and activists formed an around 21 kilometre human chain on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway yesterday demanding that the government “frees†former lawmaker and BNP Organising Secretary (Sylhet Division) M Ilias Ali.
Ilias and his driver have been missing since April 17 and police found his abandoned car in the capital's Banani the next morning.
Sylhet district BNP organised the two-hour human chain, from Rashipdpur to Sherpur and covering Osmaninagar, Balaganj and Biswanath. However, police snatched their banners and dispersed them at Dayamirbazar, Kuruabazar and Sherpur.
BNP leaders threatened to continue their agitation until Ilias was freed.
