Road crashes kill 5, injure 21

Nine people were killed and 21 others injured in road accidents in Sirajganj, Netrakona, Tangail, Jessore and Pabna yesterday. Our Sirajganj correspondent reports, four potato traders died as a truck fell into a ditch beside Dhaka-Bogra highway in Datidighor area of Royganj upazila in Sirajganj yesterday night. One of the deceased was Mithu Mia, 35, of Bogra. In Netrakona, Manzura, 25, died instantly as a bus hit her on Netrakona-Mymensingh road at Challisha Bazar in sadar upazila yesterday morning. Meanwhile, Insan, 56, was killed and five others were injured as a bus hit a human hauler at Gurastan in Kalmakanda yesterday. Injured Abdul Momin was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while the others to a local health complex. In Tangail, an unidentified driver was killed and 15 passengers were injured as his bus hit another bus in Kalihati yesterday morning. The injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital. In Jessore, motorcyclist Shariful Islam, 30, was killed and another injured as a bus ran them over near Basundia Bazar yesterday noon. Injured Habibur Rahman was taken to Jessore Medical College Hospital. In Pabna, Saidul, 40, died instantly as a bus hit his motorbike on Pabna-Ishwardi highway in Vobanipur yesterday noon.
