Awareness on Liberation War
Musa's cyclecade reaches RU
Musa Ibrahim, the first Bangladeshi to conquer Everest, yesterday reached Rajshahi University to campaign for awareness about Liberation War among the youth.
On the ninth day of his 25-day countrywide bicycle campaign yesterday, Musa Ibrahim accompanied by thirteen other cyclists, campaigned on the university's Sabas Bangladesh premises around 11:00am.
Musa told the journalists on the campus that they had visited 10 educational institutions in every district and rode at least 100 kilometres each day during campaign to encourage the youth take an interest in Bangladesh's history.
"We have campaigned to reach the message of our victory in 1971 and encouraged to plant medicinal and fruit trees instead of foreign trees. We have also campaigned for drug and smoke free young generation especially for encouraging students to do adventurous works to stay away from drug addiction," said Musa.
RU Proctor Prof Chowdhury Muhammad Zakaria said, "The tour is very important as we need to highlight the history of the Liberation War for the next generation."
Prothom Alo Bandhushabha, Everest Academy, Cyclelife, IDLC and The Daily Star launched the cycle tour from Dhaka University's Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on December 3.
