3-nation cadet corps team meets PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday underlined the importance of strengthening people to people contact for mutual benefit of the region's people. She was talking to a delegation of officers and cadets of the national cadet corps of Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka who called on her at her Gono Bhaban residence. Governments are elected for five years but people are the main future makers and their contacts are essential for mutual benefit, she said. Hasina thanked the cadets of the neighbouring countries for visiting Bangladesh in December when Bangladesh was celebrating its 41st anniversary of victory. The cadets thanked the prime minister for giving them the privilege to visit the head of a government for the first time. They said they visited a number of historical places including the marine academy in Chittagong, Patenga beach, and Jamuna Bridge and received warm hospitality from the humble people of Bangladesh. Bangladesh National Cadet Corps Director General Brig Gen Mirza Ezazur Rahman, Indian National Cadet Corps Head of Delegation Col Mahendra K Joshi and Sri Lankan Cadet Corps Head of Delegation Col SLDE Lanerolle were present.
