Woman beheaded in her house
Attempts were also made to sever her limbs
A housewife was found decapitated at her Mirpur residence in the capital early yesterday.
Her beheaded body was found in the bathroom and the head in another room.
The deceased, Sadia Islam Rita, 23, was wife of Manik Mia Bepari of Kushtia, a garments buying house employee, who is believed to have fled the area.
Sub-inspector Kamrul Islam of Mirpur Police Station said there were injury marks on the deceased's body, which suggested that attempts had been made to sever her arms and legs as well.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College. Sources at the morgue said Rita might have been killed about three days ago. A murder case is expected to be filed soon.
Humayun Kabir, owner of the building in Mirpur 10, said he received complaints of malodour coming from Rita's flat from her next door neighbours. Later, police were called and they broke into Rita's fifth floor apartment.
Kabir said Rita and Bepari had rented the apartment four months ago and frequently annoyed their neighbours with loud quarrels. A few days ago, he had hung a "To-Let" to rent out the flat to another family and had decided to ask the couple to leave, he added.
