BCL steering govt to fall
Says Moudud
Pro-ruling Awami League student body Bangladesh Chhatra League's "violence and crimes" at different public universities would determine the government's fall, said BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed yesterday.
"Our street agitation against the government will continue. But I am sure the government will be bound to step down due to violence by Chhatra League," Moudud, standing committee member of the main opposition, said while addressing a pre-procession rally in front of party headquarters at Naya Paltan.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, associate student body of BNP, organised the procession protesting against alleged misdeeds and violence at different public universities, especially Islamic University in Kushtia and Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur.
Moudud blasted the BCL activists and alleged that no public university is left where they are not engaged in trade manipulation, extortion and other crimes.
"They even launched attacks on the university's respected teachers, while Chhatra League cadres brutally killed Bishwajit in broad daylight at Old Dhaka," he added.
"No teacher or student is safe in their respective education institutions now thanks to Chhatra League goons," he observed.
He added the BNP-led alliance would lead the ongoing anti-government agitation into its final stage when the government will be bound to realise their demand for restoration of the caretaker government system.
After the brief rally, a procession of several thousand activists and leaders of JCD marched from Naya Paltan to Jatiya Press Club chanting slogans against BCL's violence in education institutions.
