Ensure recovery of Gazipur tortured domestic help
HC directs govt
The High Court yesterday directed the government to ensure the recovery of a domestic help, allegedly raped and tortured by her employers earlier this month, in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to Bangla daily Kaler Kantho's reports, Kazal Mollah of Kapasia in Gazipur raped the girl, aged around 18 years, while his wife brutally tortured her.
The HC also directed that the victim, now undergoing treatment at One-stop Crisis Centre of DMCH, would afterwards remain in custody of Bangladesh National Women and Lawyers Association (BNWLA) until March 28, when it would pass further order.
The HC order came following a writ petition filed by BNWLA Executive Director Salma Ali on January 20.
