Death for Rajib's killers demanded

Different socio-political organisations yesterday strongly protested the murder of the Shahbagh activist Ahmed Rajib Haidar and demanded capital punishment for his killers. They also demanded a ban on Jamaat-e-Islami, which was allegedly involved in the 1971 war crimes and is being blamed for the killing of Rajib, a 30-year-old blogger who actively campaigned against war criminals. Rajib was stabbed to death on Friday night near his residence at Pallabi in the capital. The organisations also called upon the people to reject Jamaat's hartal on Monday. A statement of Workers Party of Bangladesh said when the nation stood united to ensure death penalty for war criminals, Jamaat-Shibir brutally killed Rajib. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal said evidences suggested that Jamaat was involved in the killing. Rajib is a freedom fighter of the new generation, according to Sector Commanders Forum, Liberation War-'71, and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad. Bangladesh Mahila Parishad said Rajib powerfully bolgged against all false campaigns of Jamaat in the cyber world. Jamaat killed Rajib to stop the Shahbagh movement, said Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League. Also protesting Rajib's killing are Bangladesh Awami Ainjibi Parishad, Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Manobadhikar Samonnoy Parishad, Gonotantrik Mojdoor Party, Shahbagh Sanghoti Mancha, Gazipur and Bangladesh Jubo Moitry, and Jahangirnagar University Syndicate.
