Exorbitant fees

KM. Alam, FCA
The govt. of Bangladesh has increased the registration fees of the companies and others fees like searching fees, return submission fees, name clearance fees etc abnormally, which is likely to hinder corporate development in the country. The registration fee of a company with an authorised capital of taka one crore was Tk. 5,675/- which has been increased to Tk. 17,025/--with effect from 1st July 2007. Similarly, submission fee or return submission fee was Tk. 20.00 but it is now Tk. 200.00. Fee for name clearance certificate of a company was Tk. 5.00 only, but it has been increased to Tk. 100.00 Thus all the fees have been increased by 5 to 20 times. This will affect the growth of new companies and will be a setback to corporate activities in the country. Therefore, the govt. is requested to review the fees for registration and filling and other charges in the interest of economic development of the country.
