Working hours

At present, our National Working Hours (NWH) is 8 x 5= 40 hours per week. To speed up our development, we should increase the NWH and ensure complete utilistion of manpower. By increasing working hours, we can ensure massive participation in developmental works that will simultaneously remove unemployment problem and develop the country. The NWH could be increased to 12 hours per day (i.e. 12 x 5= 60 hours per week) where the workers and employees will work in two shifts. Each of the shifts will be of 6 hours (8:00am to 2:00pm and 2:00pm to 8:00pm). Such schedule may offer many advantages like- 1.Employment opportunities will be doubled. 2.Unemployment problem will be removed. 3. Every citizen will get an opportunity to contribute to development. 4.Complete utilisation of manpower will be ensured. 5.Production, trade and commerce will be enhanced greatly. 6.Each person will be able to exhibit his full efficiency of work during the six- hour working period and will get enough time for entertainment, study, research and additional skill development. 7.Diligent and devoted people will get extra time for social work, consultancy, writing etc. 8.Illiterate workers will get enough time to develop their skills through education and training at any stage of life. There are about three crore unemployed people in our country. Then how can we expect our development by keeping them unemployed? They are now a social burden. They should be turned into skilled manpower to ensure development.
