Textile engineering institute

Md. Jamaluddin, Smripalli, Munshiganj Town, Munshiganj
The low investment, low technology and labour intensive garments industry has developed tremendously well in the last two decades in Bangladesh. Huge demand of production ingredients like, knit & woven fabric, button, jeepers, level and packing materials, created scope for backward linkage industrial units. A good number of industrial units have been set up by the sponsors in the last couple of years to cater to the demand of the garments industry, especially yarn producing spinning factories, fabric producing factories, processing, dying and washing plants have come up and created jobs for the people. But these backward linkage industrial units are confronting shortage of technical experts in textile technology. We urge the government to set up a textile engineering institute to impart textile technology based education at diploma level in Munshiganj town on a priority basis, which will cater to the demand for technical manpower in the first growing textile industry,
