Project for physically challenged in Khagrachhari
ALO, a local non-government organisation, has taken initiative to serve disabled men, women and children in Khagrachhari Sadar upazila.
Under the first phase of their pilot project in four unions and one municipality in the upazila, they have selected 25 Chakma, 25 Marma, 25 Tripura and 25 Bangali disabled men, women and children for their service, speakers said at the inaugural function at their Pankhaiya Para office in Khagrachhari hill town.
They will be provided all sorts of assistance including therapeutic services and education facilities, they said, adding that the initiative to serve disabled people has been taken to help them to establish themselves socially and live with physical and mental satisfaction.
ALO President Rabi Shangkar Talukder presided over the function while Upazila Social Welfare Officer Rokeya Begum was present as chief guest.
