Fertiliser-laden ship yet to be salvaged
The Panama flag bearer MV Vinashin Iron which ran aground on the morning of September 2 seven nautical miles away from Hiron Point could not be salvaged till yesterday evening.
The ship was on way to Mongla Port carrying 16,243 metric tonnes of urea imported by Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) from China.
Tugboat MV Shibsha of Mongla Port Authority (MPA) sent there on the same day could not salvage the ship. Four literage barges have been called from Chittagong.
