Bank official held in rape case
Police arrested Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) DGM Abdul Motaleb from his Baharampur residence on Monday night following a case for raping his child domestic help.
RAKUB DGM Abdul Motaleb brought an 11-year-old girl from his native village Pirgang under Thakurgaon district for domestic work at his Baharampur residence on August 31, police said.
Raped and tortured by Motaleb in absence of his wife at his house, the girl managed to flee from the house and took shelter at Nari Bikash Kendra leader Sharmin Aktar's office, sources said.
Hearing from the victim the incidents of torture and rape, women leaders filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against the bank official with Rajpara Police Station on Monday.
Police yesterday produced Motaleb before the court that sent him to jail.
Police said Motaleb claimed himself innocent in this case.
