Shaikh Rahman's wife, daughter freed on bail
Hanged outlawed JMB kingpin Shaikh Abdur Rahman's wife Nurjahan Begum alias Rupa and their daughter Afifa Rahman were freed on bail from Sylhet Central Jail yesterday afternoon. Earlier in last week they obtained bail in both the cases from the High Court, official sources said.
Sylhet Kotwali police filed two cases -- one under Arms Act and the other under Explosives Act following the arrest of Shaikh Rahman and his people including family members from a house named 'Surjodighol Bari' at Shaplabag in Sylhet city suburb on March 2 in 2006.
Huge explosives were recovered and seized from the house after the surrender and arrest of Shaikh Rahman, his wife, two sons, daughter and others.
Shaikh Rahman was hanged in another case later.
The other accused including housemaid Chameli Begum, Shaikh's aides Abdul Aziz alias Hanif, Moyezyul Islam Chowdhury alias Hridoy Chowdhury are in the jail.
The case is under trial at the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-III, also the Arms and Explosives Court in Sylhet.
Abdul Aziz alias Hanif was jailed for 10 years in another case.
