AK Khandaker barred for loan default

The returning officer of Pabna has cancelled the nomination paper of Sector Commanders Forum chief and AL nominee for Pabna-2 constituency Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) AK Khandaker due to loan defaulting. District Returning Office sources said that IFIC Bank has claimed that he defaulted bank loan of Tk 14 crore. Khandaker's lawyers said that they will appeal to the Election Commission against the cancellation order. According to sources when Khandaker was the chief of 'Air Parabat', he took the loan from the bank. But later he left the company but did not inform the Bank. So he is a loan defaulter in the Bank's list, Bank sources said. IFIC Bank informed the district returning office about his being a loan defaulter. The district returning officer and deputy commissioner, Pabna Mokhlesur Rahman has cancelled his nomination paper during the scrutiny on Thursday. But he has the scope to appeal to the Commission, district election office sources said.
