Open-pit mining
Engr. AKM Shamsuddin has written a very good article on hydro-geological state of art pertaining to open-pit mining in the northwestern region of Bangladesh. It is so well written with scientific justification. I must admit that Mr. Shamsuddin, being a mining engineer, possesses quite a good knowledge of hydrogeology. I am absolutely with him to opine that the government in the interest of the country must ask Asia Energy to revise its proposal.
Simultaneously, the government should include a clause banning open-pit mining in Bangladesh in the upcoming national coal policy.
