BSF injures four in Thakurgaon, Satkhira

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot a Bangladeshi farmer on Ratnai border under Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon yesterday morning. Three Bangladeshi cattle traders were also seriously injured when BSF tortured them in areas opposite to Kakdanga in Kalaroa upazila and Padmashakhra in Sadar upazila on Thursday night. BSF men opened fire when Shahidur Rahman, 42, of Shinghari village under Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon district, went to his land near Ratnai border under Baliadangi upazila yesterday morning, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent. With bullet injuries on the belly, Shahidur is undergoing treatment at Baliadangi Health Complex. Lt Col S Shahed Kamal, commander of 20 Rifles Battalion confirmed the incident. Our Satkhira Correspondent reports: Three Bangladeshi cattle traders were seriously injured when BSF tortured them in areas opposite to Kakdanga in Kalaroa upazila and Padmashakhra in Sadar upazila on Thursday night. They are Putu Gazi, 18, and Alamgir Hossain, 22, of village Sonabaria in Kalaroa upazila, and Golam Hossain, 32, of village Sreerampur in Sadar upazila. BSF men caught and tortured Putu Gazi and Alamgir as they were returning home with cattle through Tarali, opposite to Kakdanga border, police quoted the victims' relatives as saying. They threw the victims into the bordering Sonai River on Thursday night. Local people rescued them and sent to Kalaroa Health Complex in critical condition yesterday morning. BSF men of Panitor camp under Basirhat thana opposite to Padmashakhra border tortured cattle trader Golam Hossain and left him on the border on Thursday night. He was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. Lt Col Shams, Commanding officer 41 Rifles Battalion, confirmed the incidents.
