Full-fledged puja mandop at RU demanded

Teachers, students, officials and employees of the Hindu community yesterday urged the of Rajshahi University (RU) authorities to immediately construct a full-fledged puja mandop on the premises of Motiher Hall. They raised their demand at a programme held on the premises of Motiher Hall where RU Central Puja Committee set up a temporary mandop to worship Saraswati, Hindu goddess of knowledge, and organised a discussion meeting and cultural programme. Both males and females, draped in colourful dresses, came out on the campus from the RU halls and outside to observe and see the Saraswati Puja. RU acting vice chancellor Prof Mamnunul Keramat was present as chief guest while RU Central Puja Committee President Prof Dr Chitto Ranjon Saha Misro presided over the meeting. RU Treasurer Prof Dr Mozzamel Haque and Assistant High Commissioner of Indian KP Munshi were present as special guest at the programme. Most of the educational institutions in Rajshahi city were in a festive mood yesterday as colourfully decorated and illuminated puja mandops attracted hundreds of people irrespective of religion.
