Series of cases in five districts, 19 sued

Nineteen alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces have been sued for killing six people, including two freedom fighters, in Rajshahi, Netrakona, Dinajpur, Comilla and Faridpur in 1971. In Rajshahi, two cases were filed with two separate courts here yesterday, accusing eight collaborators of killing two peopleone in Binodpur area of Rajshahi city and another in Charghat upaziladuring Liberation War in 1971, according to our staff correspondent. Abdul Mannan Khalifa lodged a case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court against two people for killing his father Jasim Uddin Khalifa in the city's Binodpur area on November 1, 1971. The accused are Abul Hossain and Shamsul Haque. Another case was filed against six people with Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court by Golam Hossain, son of slain Rawshan Ali of Kaluhati village under Charghat upazila. In the case, the complainant accused Mofizuddin, Siddikur Rahman, Khetab Uddin, Khabir Uddin, Choyen Uddin and Shahinur Rahman of Raihati village in the upazila of killing his father on May 19, 1971. Accepting the case, both the courts asked the officers-in-charge of the police station concerned to take legal steps after proper investigation into the cases. Our Netrakona correspondent reported that a case was filed with Judicial Magistrate's Court-1 here yesterday, accusing four people of killing a person At Batua village under Kalmakanda upazila during Liberation War in 1971. The accused are Ruhul Amin, 72, Majibur Rahaman, 68, Billal Hossain, 65, and Osman Gani, 60. They all hail from Batua village. The complainant, Shamsul Haque, stated in the case statement that the accused picked up his brother-in-law Abdul Kadir from their house on September 8, 1971 killed him. The court accepted the case and asked police station concerned to take legal steps against the accused after investigation. A case was filed with Biral Police Station of Dinajpur district yesterday against three collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces for killing a woman at Daikatbari village in 1971, reports our correspondent. The complainant, Mohammad Khatir Muhammad filed the case, accusing Kefar Ali, Shamser Ali and Anwar Hossain of killing his mother Meher Nargis at their house on November 1, 1971. In Comilla, an alleged 'rajakar' commander has been sued for killing a freedom fighter in Sadar upazila on October 21, i971. Kazi Ibrahim of South Rajapur village filed the case with Chief Judicial Magistrate's court, Comilla, yesterday, says our correspondent. The complainant stated that 'rajakar' commander Momtaz uddin, 67, picked up freedom fighter Mujibor Rahman Khan from his house at South Rajapur village and took him to their camp at the village. Momtaz and others rajakars tortured Mujibor at the camp and then killed him Senior Judicial Magistrate Zahir Uddin sent the case to Comilla Sadar Police Station to take necessary legal steps. Our Faridpur correspondent adds: A case was lodged with Faridpur Judicical Magistrate Court yesterday against three alleged war criminals. The accused are Munshi Abdur Razzak, 59, Jamir Uddin Sheikh,62, Malek Mollah, 63. Md Torap Ali, son of martyred freedom fighter Rahamat Ali of Boalmari upazila, filed the case with the Judicial Magistrate's Court. According to case, the complainant said the accused attacked their house during the War of Independence on 26 Bhadra 1377 ( Bangla). He further said the accused looted valuables and killed his father. The court asked the officer-in- Charge (OC) of Boalmari Police Station to investigate the case.
