Two women murdered in Barisal

A woman and her daughter-in-law were found dead at their Daptarkhana residence in Barisal city on Monday night. The dead were identified as Sufia Begum, 65, wife of late Ali Muhammad Mia and Shimu Begum, 22, wife of Remon Ahmed, younger son of Sufia. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) for autopsy. Police suspected the two women were strangled. Remon told police that he returned home from office at around 11:00pm and knocked at the door. Not getting any response after knocking the door and calling his mother and wife over mobile phone for an hour, he broke open the door with the help of neighbours. Thereafter he found the bodies of his mother and wife lying on the floor of their drawing room. Police detained Remon, an employee of a pharmaceutical company, and took him to Kotwali Police Station for interrogation.
