7 Bogra NGO men sued for 'fraud'

A job seeker filed a case with Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court here yesterday accusing chairman of Bogra based NGO--Science and Infor-mation Technology (SIT) Foundation Abdul Manna, his son Rawshan Kabir and five others of cheating in the name of providing job. Other accused are Regional Director of SIT Foundation Md Hafizur Rahman Jahangir, Secretary Md Ali Asad, Trainer Md Kamruzzman, Assistant Director Mohammed Ali and Md Mohshin Ali Sarker, an employee of the foundation. The complainant, Mushtaque Kamal, stated in the case statement that Abdul Manna Sarker, also the director of National Academy for Computer Training and Research (NACTAR) under the Ministry of Education, his son ASM Rawshan Kabir and five others cheated him of Tk 1.92 lakh, which he paid upon an assurance of appointment as an official at a project namely UNDO. The court issued notices to all the accused, asking them to appear before it (court) on May 21. At a press conference at Bogra Press Club a few days ago, the job seekers complained that the authorities of SIT Foundation collected more than Tk 12 crore from hundreds of people, including women, in several northern districts during last six months preparing fake appointment letters of the so-called project. On Sunday last, a large number of frustrated job seekers formed a human chain at Satmatha in Bogra town demanding return of their deposit money from SIT Foundation.
