Physician sued for violating patient

A case was filed with Women and Children Repression Prevention Court, Satkhira, on Thursday against four people, including a physician, for allegedly violating a patient at Langaljhhara health and family planning centre under Kalaroa upazila on April 21. Judge SM Rezanur Rahman asked the Kalaroa upazila women affairs officer to investigate the matter and place a report before the court on or before April 28, court sources said. The accused are Dr Joynal Abedin, health worker Sajeda Khatun, and MA Kalam and Asgar Ali of Langaljhhara village. The complainant, Nazrul Islam of the village, alleged that his wife Abeda Khatun went to the centre on April 21 for treatment. After check-up, Dr Joynal Abedin of the centre took her to a room and violated her. Hearing scream, Sajeda and two other accused went to the room and threatened Abeda with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to the villagers, he alleged. On contacted, Kalaroa upazila women affairs officer Nasrin Zahan said she will submit a report to the court after investigation.
