BCL, Shibir clash at Dinajpur medical
At least four students of Dinajpur Medical College were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) on the campus yesterday.
Campus sources said both sides equipped with sharp weapons clashed over taking control of the medical college campus, leaving three BCL and one Shibir activists injured.
The injured are BCL activists Abu Raihan, Dipanker Roy and Md Moshiur Rahman and Shibir activist Masud Rana. Of them, Dipanker was admitted to the medical college hospital in a critical condition.
During the clash, BCL men also ransacked rooms of the Shibir activists at college hostels.
Police went to the campus, charged baton on the clashing groups and brought the situation under control.
A three-member committee, led by Dr Khalid Hasan, has been formed to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, the authorities of Dinajpur Government College asked the students of Muslim hostel to leave the dormitory by 6:00pm yesterday to avert any untoward incident between BCL and Shibir centring damage of the portrait of Bangabandhu at the hostel On Wednesday.
The authorities have formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident and asked the committee to submit its report within seven days.
