22 hurt in clash over tender submission

At least 22 people were injured, two of them seriously, in a clash between two factions of pro-Awami League contractors over submission of tender at the Water Development Board (WDB) office here yesterday. Of the injured, 20 were admitted to local hospital and clinics. The clash ensued at about 12:00 noon over submission of tender for a Tk 6 crore work, police and WDB officials said. Both the groups used lethal weapons and chased each other. Police brought the situation under control charging batons. The WDB officials postponed submission of tender after the incident.
