BNP leader held with gun

Security forces yesterday arrested Meheraj Uddin Mintu, former general secretary of BNP Lama municipality committee, with a local-made gun. A special team of Bangladesh army caught the BNP leader from his residence at Chairmanpara village early yesterday. After police produced Mintu before the Lama Judicial Magistrate's Court at noon, the court rejected his bail prayer and order sending him to jail. Meanwhile, local people brought out a procession in protest against the arrest.
