Six-year-old girl raped

A six-year-old girl was raped at Kotalipara in Gopalganj on Friday. The girl is now undergoing treatment at Kotalipara upazila health complex. The parents of the girl, a student of class one, filed a case with Kotalipara police station. According to police, the victim's family and locals, neighbour Suranjan Roy, 20, took the girl to a jute field at Uttar Para village and raped her and left her there profusely bleeding. Several areas of Gaibandha Sadar, Fulchhari and Shaghata upazilas were flooded due to heavy rain in the last three days. Standing crops, especially IRRI-Boro, on a vast tract of land have been badly affected. Outskirts of Gaibandha Pourashava went under knee-deep water causing much sufferings to the dwellers on DB Road, Circular Road, Munshipara, Bridge Road and Sarkerpara. Four people were killed by lightning in Meghna, Langolkot and Chouddagram upazilas of the district yesterday. The dead are Md Lokman Hossain, 26, of Chandgaon village and Md Faruk, 28, of Pumkot village under Langolkot upazila, Ali Asraf, 35, of Barash village in Chouddagram upazila, and Joy Mah, 65, of Bowpara village in Meghna upazila. A suspected Indian citizen was arrested at Marichia near Janali para army camp on Friday when he was suspiciously moving around the Bangladesh-Myanmar border area. Sree Mridul, 35, was taken to the army camp and after preliminary quiz handed over to Alikadam Police Station. A case was filed with Alikadam PS accusing him of illegal border crossing. Mridul does not understand Bangla and speaks only English, police said. Bombs found in shop

Police recovered two bombs from a cosmetic shop at Halidani Bazar under Sadar upazila on Friday. During the raid police said they found the bombs in a carton. None was arrested after the shop owner claimed innocence saying somebody might have kept it in his shop due to previous enmity.
