31 more sued for war crimes
Muktijoddha Sangsad commander held in Natore
Thirty-one alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces were yesterday sued for murder, rape, looting and arson in Magura, Khulna and Kishoreganj districts in 1971.
Meanwhile, a commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad was arrested in Natore yesterday in a case filed against him for his alleged role in war crimes.
Our Magura correspondent reported that a petition case was filed with Judicial Magistrate's court, accusing nine more alleged rajakars of killing a freedom fighter in Magura Sadar upazila during Liberation War in 1971.
The accused are Kashem Molla, 67, Hashem Molla, 65, Rostam Molla 62, Aziz Molla 62, Sattar Molla, 63, and Mustafa Molla of Kalupara village, Kalam Sheikh of Rupdah village, Akmol Sheikh of Sankochkhali village and Afjal Hossain of Baharbagh village under Sadar upazila.
Md Sharafat Ali Meer of Kalupara village filed the case against the accused for killing his father Belayet Ali Master, also a freedom fighter, on October 27, 1971.
On Monday, freedom fighter Kazi Fakhruzzaman filed another petition case with the same court, accusing eight 'rajakars' of killing his brother Baku Kazi, also a freedom fighter, during the Liberation War in 1971.
In Natore, police yesterday arrested Abul Hossain Sheikh, commander of Mujtijoddha sangsad Natore Sadar Upazila Command, for his alleged involvement in war crimes in 1971, according to a correspondent.
Freedom fighter Sheikh Alauddin of Kapuriapotty in Natore town filed a case with Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court, Natore, on April 30 accusing 13 people, including Abul Hossain Sheikh, of their alleged involvement in war crimes at Satney, Fulbagan and Kapuriapotty in 1971.
The accused also killed freedom fighter Abu Sama at Matiapara village, Ata, Happy and Abinash at Mallijhati village on April 4 and December 16 in 1971, said the complainant in the case statement.
Abul Hossain denied the allegations, saying that he is a real freedom fighter.
Our Staff Correspondent from Khulna reports: Twenty alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces were sued in the district yesterday and on Monday night for war crimes.
On Monday night, a case was recorded with the Batiaghata Police Station against 13 alleged collaborators for killing freedom fighter Haridas Majumdar on October 10, 1971 at Halia village under the upazila.
The 13 accused are Nazrul Joardar, Abdul Jabbar Sheikh, Abu Saeed Sheikh, Hemayet Hossain, Ohid Joarder, Atiar Rahman Sheikh, Musa Fakir, Motassen Molla, Iru Ali Biswas, Ashraf Ali Sheikh, Mozahar Ali Sheikh, Nazrul Sheikh and Amjad Halder.
Another case was filed yesterday with Chief Judicial Magistrate' Court, Khulna, against seven people, including former president of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Sheikh Shahidul Islam, for their alleged invovement in war crimes in 1971.
Six other accused are Aziz Khandaker, Sheikh Arjan Ali, Sheikh Jamaluddin, Torab Ali, Sheikh Shamsur Rahman and Sheikh Abu Taleb.
In Kishoreganj, a case was filed with Judicial Magistrate's Court here yesterday against 18 alleged rajakars for killing two people at Sehra village in Sadar upazila during Liberation War in 1971, reports a correspondent.
The accused are Tajul Islam alias Taju and Shamsur. The complainant, Sarbanu, filed the case against the two for killing her husband Abdur Rahim and brother-in-law Abdul Hakin on November 5, 1971.
