10 hurt as transport workers clash
At least 10 transport workers were injured in a clash between the supporters of two rival bus owners' associations over establishing supremacy at Satkhira bus terminal yesterday.
The clash ensued when supporters belonging to Satkhira District Bus Ow-ners Association -attacked workers loyal to District Minibus-bus Owners Association in the morning.
As a result, 10 people from both the groups were injured, witnesses said. The feuding groups ransacked each other's office during the clash that continued for half an hour.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The two bus owners' associations have been trying to take control of the terminal for long terming each other illegal, police said.
Both the feuding groups blamed each other for the clash.
When contacted, Satkhira Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge confirmed the incident, saying none came to file any case in this connection.
