16 sued for '71 war crimes in Bagerhat

Sixteen alleged collaborators of Pakistani occupation army have been sued for war crimes at Shakharikati under Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district in 1971. Freedom fighter Nimai Chandra Das filed a petition case with Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Bagerhat on Monday. The petition case was recorded as regular one with Kachua Police station as ordered by the court. The complainant in his petition said the accused attacked Shakharikaty Bazar on November 3, 1971 and picked up 40 Hindus from there at gunpoint. The collaborators then took the Hindus to the bank of a canal at the same village and killed them. The bodies were later dumped on the bank of Bishkhali river at Ramchandrapur village under Morrelganj upazila, the complainant added. The accused are Latif Talukder, 70, Iddris Molla, 68, Rustam Molla, 66, Iddris Sheikh, 62, Abual Dihidar, 70, Karim Dihidar, 70, Delwar Sheikh, 60, Fazlur Rahman Dihidar, 62, Imam Hossain Dihidar, 60, Asman Dihidar, 63, Makfer Dihidar, 65, Abdul Jabbar Sarder, 64, Akram Khan, 63, Adam Dihidar, 68, Siraj Master, 70, and Abu Shikder, 56. With this, the total number of cases against war criminals filed so far with different police stations of Bagerhat district now stands at 11.
