Six get life for murder in Ctg

A Chittagong court yesterday awarded life term imprisonment to six people in connection with murder of one Abdus Sattar in Satkania upazila in 1996. The convicts are Nurun Nabi, Abdul Motlab, Abu Islam, Sirajul Islam, Jasim Uddin and Shamsul Haque. Of them, Jasim and Shamsul are still absconding. The court also fined each Tk 10 thousand, in default, to suffer imprisonment for three years more and acquitted one Abu Bakkar of the charges. According to the deposition of the case, the convicts stabbed Abdus Sattar severely following a dispute over distribution of fish at village West Ghatia Danga under Satkania on February 1,1996. Sattar was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
