Fake pro-VC, engr held

Police has arrested two persons from Talaimari in Rajshahi city for trying to cheat a job seeker by giving false identity as Rajshahi University pro-vice chancellor and an engineer. Police also seized fake identity cards of RU and 'recruitment-related' papers from the procession of the arrestees -- Hadiul Islam Madhu of village Nawpara under Puthia upazila of Rajshahi and Zahidul Islam, a resident of Meherchandi area near the RU. On Thursday night, Madhu and Zahidul introduced themselves as RU pro-vice chancellor and an engineer respectively, and demanded Tk 60,000 as 'donation' from one Mainul Islam assuring him job of a computer operator at RU, sources said. Mainul told locals of the matter and after interrogation it was revealed that Madhu and Zahidul had given false identity. People beat them up and handed them over to police.
