16 sued on charge of war crimes in Bagerhat
Sixteen people have been sued for their alleged involvement in war crimes at Shakharikathi village under Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district in 1971.
Kachua Police Station recorded the case on Friday night as per order of the Additional Judicial Magistrate's Court, Bagherhat. Freedom fighter Nimai Chandra Das filed the case with the court on May 9.
The accused are Abdul Latif Talukder, 70, Idris Molla, 68, Abul Dihidar, 70, Karim Dihidar, 68, Delwar Sheikh, 58, Fazlur Rahman Dihidar, 62, Imam Hossain Dihidar, 60, Aslam Dihidar, 63, Makfer Dihidar, 65, Abdul Jabbar Sardar, 64, Rustam Molla, 62, Idris Sheikh, 60, Akram Khan, 63, Adam Dihidar, 68,Siraj Master, 70, and Abu Sikder.
All of the accused hail from in Kachua and Bagerhat Sadar upazilas.
In the case statement, the complainant said the accused attacked Shakharikathi village on November 3, 1971, set fire to the houses and killed 40 Hindus.
