1 MINUTE PLEASE!

The popular music band 'Renaissance' is incomplete without vocalist and composer Naquib Khan. Born in 1952 in Chittagong, Naquib Khan along with his band brought about a whiff of freshness in the music scene of the country. After moving from his first band 'Balark' to 'Souls', he finally made a final shift to 'Renaissance' in 1985. This week we bring you some insights into the life of the illustrious musician.  Naquib KhanYour first band I first performed with Balark, based in Chittagong, back in 1972. Three words that describe your working style Feel, create and execute. The bands that you love I love listening to rock bands from the 1960s to the 1980s. I love The Eagles, The Beatles, Pink Floyd. Singers from Bangladesh you can listen to again and again Shahnaz Rahmatullah and Nilufar Yasmin are all-time favourites. Your first music composition When I was in class eight in 1973, lyricist Hena Islam had written lyrics for a song that he wanted my older brother Bilu Khan to compose. I slyly took the paper containing the lyrics without letting my brother know and composed the music for the song. After my brother heard the tune, he really liked what I did and appreciated my efforts. Your inspiration My father, mother and older brother. Most significant achievement The love and respect people show me and my band. Even after 30 years, people still love listening to our music and that feels amazing.
