The fire at the Bangabazar Shopping Complex this morning started at the Adarsha market inside the complex, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Moments after the catastrophic fire at the Bangabazar Shopping Complex was brought under control at 12:36pm today, shop owners and employees were seen desperately going through the smouldering ruins to salvage whatever they could.

Four years ago the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence declared the Bangabazar Shopping Complex a fire risk.

The fire that has been raging for more almost six hours at the capital's Bangabazar originated in a shop at Adarsha Market, a market under the Bangabazar Shopping Complex, witnesses said.
