‘BCL Harassment’: CU officials go on work abstention
Officials of Chittagong University (CU) administration have started a work abstention to demand punishment for three leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League's (BCL) CU unit for allegedly harassing the officials.
The officials took position in front of the office of the CU officers' association on the campus yesterday. The association alleged that a group of BCL leaders tried to take stored goods from CU's central warehouse without any tender on April 6, and they harassed some officials when the latter tried to stop them.
The association wrote a letter to CU VC Shireen Akhtar, accusing three BCL leaders -- Mofazzal Haider, Nazrul Islam Sabuj and Sadek Hossain.
Earlier, Nazrul claimed that the incident did not play out like it has been narrated.
The association's general secretary Md Abu Jafar said they will observe a three-hour working abstention every day until Eid vacation.
The CU administration formed a five-member committee to investigate. The committee was asked to submit its report in three days, the deadline for which expired on Sunday.
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Director Prof Abdullah Al Mamun, who is leading the committee, said they started their investigation and are verifying the claims of both parties.
