Bogura's Akbaria hotel fined Tk 3 lakh for selling stale, expired food
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) today fined Bogura's famous Akbaria Grand Hotel and Restaurant Tk 3 lakh for selling and storing stale sweets, butter, and expired sweets items today.
The DNCRP and Bangladesh Safe Food Authority conducted a joint drive at the Akbaria Grand Hotel and Restaurant located in the Thana Mor area of the town around 11:00 am.
Iftekharul Alam Rizvi, assistant director of the DNCRP, Bogura, said that conducting the operation, it was found that the restaurant sold and stored stale sweets, butter, and sold expired sweet items as well as storing foods in a dirty refrigerator and environment.
Therefore, as per the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, DNCRP fined them Tk 3 lakh.
Akbaria Grand Hotel and Restaurant authorities were warned that if they do similar offences in the future it would result in stricter penalties including closing of the hotel, Rizvi told reporters during the drive.
