Idols at 12 temples vandalised in Thakurgaon

Unidentified criminals vandalised 14 idols at 12 Hindu temples in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon early today.

The temples are situated in Dhantala, Paria and Charul unions, our Thakurgaon correspondent reports quoting Khairul Anam, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi Police Station.

Contacted over phone, Dhantala Union Parishad Chairman Dilip Chatterjee also confirmed the incident.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Mahbubur Rahman and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jahangir Hossain have already visited the temples.

While talking to the reporter, the DC said a case has already been filed in this regard.

Those involved in such offences will be given exemplary punishment following investigation, he said.
