Man lands in jail over rape

A Habiganj court has sent a man to jail in connection with a case filed over the rape of a schoolgirl in the district Sadar.

The victim's father filed a case against Ahad Mia, 50, an Arabic teacher at a local maktab (Islamic school), with Habiganj Police Station on Thursday.

According to the case statement, Ahad raped the victim on Wednesday when she went to the maktab to learn Arabic.

He was arrested and produced before a court on Thursday, said Golam Mortuza, officer-in-charge of Habiganj Police Station.
