Banani police have arrested another man in connection with the attack on Dhaka-17 by-polls independent candidate Ashraful Alom alias Hero Alom on July 17.

Talukder Masud, president of a faction of Karwan Bazar Pick-up Driver Owners Association, was arrested at Old Dhaka on Thursday, Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, told The Daily Star yesterday.

Sources claimed that Masud is a Sramik League activist.

Law enforcers have so far arrested 10 people in connection with the attack.

A day after the assault at the Banani Bidyaniketan School and College polling centre, Sujan Rahman Shuvo, Hero Alom's personal assistant, filed a case with Banani Police Station accusing at least 20 unnamed persons.

The complainant brought charges of beating up Hero Alom with an intent to kill.
